Abstract

Peace education helps teachers, students, and other stakeholders to deal with and interact with one another to build a favorable environment for a peaceful society. Social studies provide the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and harmony and provide a natural environment so that everyone can live in peace. The nominal group technique was used to describe the curriculum
expert's ideas regarding peace themes in the social studies. Ten experts were invited to participate in the study. This research design was organized under the NGT stages of silent idea generation: round-robin sharing of ideas: group discussion: voting and ranking. This study shows that social studies is important regarding various peace themes i.e. human rights, social development, economic development, global citizenship education, and environmental education. Teachers should take part in active curriculum committees to foster their professional competencies for social studies and play an important part in advising and decision-making roles.
